Cladogram sensu stricto

The tree is a pruned subset of the GBOTB.extended.WP megatree. Smith and Brown published the seed-plant phylogeny in 2018. Zanne et al. published the pteridophyte clade in 2014. Jin and Qian combined and dated these trees in 2022.

• This game contains 319 genera selected for inclusion based on general familiarity. Each genus was then checked against the backbone tree, and each genus not present as a tip was removed.
• 86 of the 319 genera are not monophyletic in the backbone. The species of these genera occur at more than one position in the tree. For each of these genera, this game uses the largest single block of tips that have the same genus name. It does not use the most recent common ancestor of all the species.
• Nomenclature follows the World Plants database. For this reason, the garden pea is Lathyrus and not Pisum.
• The dates are published hypotheses not established fact. Deep nodes have wide confidence intervals not shown for the sake of cleanliness.
• Each genus and group name is a link to Wikipedia. The first sentence of each article is embedded in this page for use when Wikipedia is not reachable. The text is used under CC BY-SA 4.0. Click a name to open the full article.
